If 2015 was the District's year for rebuilding, 2016 will be the year the District emerges as a leader in conservation and begins to chart a course unlike any other District in the State of PA.
The primary focal points for our programming this year will be our Stormwater and Watersheds Solution Centers. Late in the first quarter, we will officially begin our municipal stormwater outreach initiative. We have also filed the necessary paperwork to form a new 501(c)3 non-profit organization that will be known as the Allegheny Watershed Alliance. This organization will provide essential administrative and technical support to watershed associations throughout Allegheny County.
Our Agricultural and Soils Solution Centers will continue to develop and be refined as well. On the agricultural side, our emphasis will revolve around rebuilding the program with our new staff members: Jonathan and Danielle. Additionally, the District is returning as the steward organization for Farmland Preservation. We're also retooling our Erosion and Sediment program and placing an emphasis on plan/project management and field work. So, expect to see us out and about more often!
