Allegheny College's Creek Connections is a partnership between Allegheny College and regional K-12 schools to turn waterways in Northwest Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh area, and beyond into outdoor environmental laboratories. Emphasizing a hands-on, inquiry based investigation of local waterways, this project annually involves over 40 different secondary schools and the classes of 50 teachers.

The Creek Connections Symposium offers a forum for students who have participated in the Creek Connections Program to show off their student research projects and meet with professionals from several environmental organizations. Participants are encouraged to have an interactive table display. ACCD built on concepts the students were already learning through the program by have a display where they had to match the macroinvertebrate that they’ve studied all year to its adult form. Several students were able to outsmart their teachers by getting them all right!
